I really enjoy keeping a sketchbook - jotting notes and ideas and keeping them all in one place is a great resource.

Here is a quick video to my current book and the type of work I use, my style is mixed media with a lot of cutting and pasting (the traditional form for graphic designers!) it allows the creativity to take over as your brain problem solves the visuals.
